About

Background

Growing up, my family's values focused strongly on respect for all and connection with our community. These values are still central to my decisions.

I have lived in South Gippsland for three decades, moving here with a young family in the 1990s.

We live in the house my husband built on a wonderfully windy hillside looking out over the Prom. We are revegetating our 10 acres, extending wildlife corridors on neighbouring properties. Our adult children value their time growing up in this unique part of the world. They all have a strong connection to South Gippsland and return when they can.

I currently teach at Fish Creek PS and have worked in most of the schools in Coastal Promontory Ward over the past 25 years. I have experience with mixed ability education and have been a carer for young people with disabilities.

My community involvement has been with an arts and environment focus. As an active member of Prom Coast Arts, I have been involved in organising wide-ranging community arts events such as The Prom Coast Festival, The Fish Creek Tea Cosy Festival, the Fire Up and Starscapes and Visions multi-media performances, The Great Southern Portrait Prize and the HorseArtsAnzac commemoration of the contribution made by horses in war. I have also enjoyed my roles as costume designer and maker for FAMDA and the Susan Green School of Dance. I am an active member of Friends of the Prom and the Fish Creek Landcare Network.

My community involvement and work have all involved respect, goodwill, listening, collaboration and bringing together people of diverse backgrounds and views to produce mutually worthwhile outcomes.

I respectfully acknowledge the Bunurong and Gunaikurnai peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which I live and work. The sovereignty of these lands has not been ceded and  it remains their Country. I pay my respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
